STEPS Meet-the-Expert Session

STEPS Meet-the-Expert Session

Application for the STEPS Meet-the-Expert Session is open.

What is the STEPS programme (Sessions To Evaluate ProgresS)?
The STEPS programme provides young clinicians an invaluable opportunity to deepen their expertise in onco-urology. By engaging in case discussions with high-level experts, participants will gain critical insights and broaden their understanding of onco-urology. In addition, the interactions and activities during the programme helps foster links between countries and centres in facilitating research opportunities in Europe.

What is included for successful applicants?

  • 24 clinicians and 8 high-level onco-urology experts will be split into 4 groups to participate in stimulating roundtable case discussions on new developments in prostate, bladder, kidney, testis and penile cancers
  • free registration to attend UROonco25 (*Please note that all costs related to travel, accommodation, and other personal expenses are the responsibility of the delegate.)
  • The chance to present at the 2026 UROonco meeting – there will be a winner chosen from each roundtable who will then be invited as faculty in the 2026 programme

Who is eligible?
Applicants should be recently specialised clinicians who:

  • Have a firm interest in the diagnosis and management of urological cancers
  • Are an EAU member
  • Are keen to participate in EAU programmes
  • Understand and speak English fluently
  • Possess a long-term ambition to be part of a network of European physicians focusing on the continued research and improved management of patients with urological cancers

Required documents:

  • Updated CV and publication list
  • Endorsement letter from the Head of the Department

The setup of the programme:
The STEPS programme will feature roundtable discussions where 24 clinicians and 8 onco-urology experts will be divided into 4 groups. In each group, a board member of the EAU Section of Oncological Urology will provide a short introduction. Then the clinicians will discuss a specific case led by a mentor, with active participation from all group members.

To stimulate discussions in the groups, designated board members and mentors of the EAU Section of Oncological Urology board members will guide the conversation, pose thought-provoking questions, and present alternative therapies and potential outcomes. They will also encourage open-ended dialogue and offer guidance on alternative approaches that could be considered in dealing with the cases.

The STEPS programme aims to energise not only the EAU Section of Oncological Urology and the UROonco25 meeting, but also the future of scientific research by introducing young, motivated clinicians to the dynamic field onco-urology.
